tough chicks.

Some of New York's girliest designers went all badass on us this season! Military and armor-inspired pieces stood out on the runways of typically ultra-feminine labels like Marchesa and Temperley, Joan of Arc was named as an influence in both Nicole Miller and Jill Stuart's collections, and Abaete's Laura Poretzky gave her models some knight-esque headgear.

So what's the deal with all these tough girls? I mean, I'm not complaining about a move away from super girly-girl looks - but if I'm going to go a different direction, I'm going more menswear-inspired a la Rag and Bone, Band of Outsiders, and Shipley and Halmos (more on this later...)
