givenchy COUTURE

Givenchy, for me, is starting to be a one of the shows I really look forward to each season. I have a lot of respect for a brand that has a very distinct look but can evolve, and Riccardo Tisci continued to impress with his spring 2008 couture show.

Above: Classic Givenchy tailoring. I love the sharp, military-inspired jacket paired with the flouncy skirt. And I feel like I might not like the shoes with bare legs - I've never been a huge fan of the lace-up thing - but with the opaque tights it's a very cool detail.

Above: Another girl-tux!

Above: The head-to-toe red is so striking in this look, and the detailing is insane. It reminds me a little bit of those crepe-paper party decorations you'd put up for your birthday when you were little, only costing several thousand dollars more.

Above: Feathers! This is such a pretty look, and the details of the neckline and red sash keep the whole look from being too precious.

Above: Hopefully the writers will pull themselves together in time for the Academy Awards, because I'd love to see someone in something like this instead of some dumb sparkley Elie Saab thing.
